So You Think You Can Dance? is really very amusing, though it's a shame that we haven't seen that much actual dancing, yet. Well, aside from people not being able to dance, or claiming to pull a hamstring and then proceed to drop into a split and wiggle all around the studion. Mostly, it's the judges complaining that a certain dancer doesn't get it, isn't trying, has no talent. Cut to said dancer saying how happy they were, how they gave it their all, how they were among the best in the group, etc. *laugh* I really hope that arrogant jerk with the ugly pocket-sized dog gets thrown out soon. Trouble is, he's probably among the best there. I wonder if they could eliminate him based on his weird eyebrow... What?! It's distracting!

Last weekend, I

Once I was done, I immediately went to those websites that I'd been casually avoiding and was struck by the fact that many people seem to think that the Hermione/Ron pairing was obvious (duh!) but that Ginny/Harry was totally out of left field. This confused me, as I was certain, while reading the last book, that the story was heading in that direction. I can't recall if it was anything in the story, or just a logical assumption that since Cho seemed definitely out of the picture, and nothing was going to happen with Hermione, and Ginny seemed to be getting so talented and pretty, and Harry was spending so much time with the Weasleys, and... You get the picture.

So what did I think about the book? The glaring lack of action (until page 500) surprised me, especially since I couldn't figure out why Dumbledore had to take so damn long to show Harry those memories. I know it's better to show than to tell, but even so! On the other hand, Harry was a good sight more mature than in the previous outing; also, as Sirius is dead, there was no moping around being miserable and frustrating everyone else. I don't quite get all the Sirius-lovers out there, as he never managed to impress me by way of an interesting personality. While he was brave and certainly good to Harry, he really annoyed me during the 5th book. I don't know, did I miss something? Oh yeah, and Draco showed his true wimpiness to the world, blubbering in the bathroom. >:D

The SHOCKING DEATH was quite sad, though not that much of a surprise. I'd thought that it might possibly turn out to be Ron, but most likely Ginny (insert Harry tragically mourning his love, lost far too soon), right until I actually started reading. My mother, never having read the books -- but having seen the movies -- thought it would be Hermione. I guess because Dumbledore was my second pick for Important Character Most Likely To Die in books 4 and 5, I'd sort of forgotten about him. Third time's a charm, eh?

All right, enough bitching. I'll say I liked this one better than the last one, if only because Harry stopped his incessant whining.

Two nights ago, I stayed up till nearly two in the morning, making myself a skirt using no pattern at all (she crowed). Very pretty, if I do say so myself, though the lining didn't match up properly, but shh! no one can tell.
