When Irish hearts are laughing...
Mar. 17th, 2002 11:28 pm...or so I think the old song goes. And even though I didn't truly celebrate good ol' Paddy's Day, because catching the tail end of the parade doesn't really count, I could feel every drop of my decidedly un-Irish (as far as I know) blood turn green in solidarity.
Well, Montreal was as enjoyable as usual, maybe even a bit more because we had a true tourist along with us, who took pictures of everything, even the subway. But that's okay, we love him anyway.
We spent a good part of the weekend wanting food, plotting to get more food, trying to decide how and where to get food and finally eating food. Shopped a little and walked around, stayed up too late and saw Bashy's Starmania show, which was tons o' fun. I also got my requisite I-really-don't-need-it-but-it's-so-pretty-and-DAMN-I-love-being-able-to-splurge-on-myself purchase, in this case the Cat People Tarot deck, with accompanying book. The cards are so gorgeous, though I am of course biased because they feature cats. But still, they're lovely, and I can't wait to try a reading.
What I want to know is, why have I had the music from Tetris stuck in my head all day? Where did it come from?!
In other news, I'm out of a job, after only 6 days at the last one. There was some trouble because I took a short break at one point and played solitaire at my computer, which my supervisor didn't appreciate. The problem was, though, that they really didn't have enough work to keep me occupied. Everything they gave me to do I finished up very quickly, and then I had to go around begging people for more work. I spent several hours reading the dictionary for lack of anything better to do. Not that reading the dictionary is bad in any way, it's just that it's kind of stupid to get paid for that sort of thing, especially since you know you should be doing something else.
Ah, well, such is life. I hope they can find me another contract and won't hold the fact that my supervisor complained about me playing solitaire against me. That would suck in a very major way; I don't feel like going out to look for another job, and I don't think many people would want to hire me for just a month or so.
