Et du Mont St-Michel...
May. 21st, 2002 09:03 pm...jusqu'a l'auberge de jeunesse... :D
This morning saw me off at 10:00 to see Mont St-Michel. It took an hour to get there by bus, a drive through the charming countryside of Brittany and Normandy and their pretty little villages with stone houses and sheep in the pastures.
The Mont itself is impressive, and there are so many angles to view it from that I used up the remainder of my two first rolls of film taking pictures. But after I put a new roll in Gerard's camera, it stopped working; the little door in front of the lens won't open! :(
I took the guided tour through the abbey, and it really is a shame that the place is so touristy, because it would be even more haunting seen in perfect silence. I'd write about it more, but you'll all see the pictures anyway, and internet time isn't cheap, here.
Tomorrow I take the train at 10:00 for La Rochelle, with train changes in Rennes and Nantes. After that, well, who knows? :)
