More thrilling adventures!
Jun. 5th, 2002 06:31 pmSo, how many of you can say you smoked apple tobacco with a hookah in the Czech Republic while choosing tea and light refreshments from a 100+ different teas menu?
They have this little tea parlour here, with a tiny room painted red and set up to look like an opium den. I shared a hookah with two guys from New Jersey, who are very kindly giving me a ride to Salzburg this afternoon. The tobacco didn't have any taste, just a faint apple flavour, which was nice. It was just very, very relaxing, especially with the twangy Middle-Eastern music and the dim lighting.
Aside from that, I spent all of yesterday doing absolutely nothing constructive. I lounged around in a park and got a mild sunburn, walked up to the castle that overlooks the town and strolled through the gardens, had a heavy lunch (I think you could gain a lot of weight very fast on a diet of potato dumplings, but they're so good!) and did the tea & hookah thing.
Tonight, if all goes well, I'll be in Munich. I'm actually going through Austria to get there, and I'll get to see a little bit of Salzburg after all, which is a pleasant surprise.
