I spent all day (well, a good six hours!) exploring Versailles and its grounds. It's huge!

I bought a package deal with transportation and entrance to the grounds, so I got a guided tour of the formal gardens, an audioguided visit of the King's appartments and entry to the Grand and Petit Trianon, as well as the Hameau de la reine.

The palace itself is magnificent, gold leaf everywhere, mirrors and paintings and chandeliers all over the place. It's rather overwhelming, actually. What was also nice is that you can take pictures in most of the rooms (as in the Louvre), but I couldn't really take that many because I only had five shots of slide film left, and I still have things to see tomorrow.

I'm down to one day... And then I go home. If I understood the Air Transat recording properly, my flight leaves Paris at 11 instead of 10, but I'm going to call back to make sure and get back to you on that.

In other news, it took this long for me to fall behind in my written journal; I'm still writing about yesterday. How sloppy of me! Ah well, I have the whole evening in front of me.

I think I'm going to have to buy a shoulder bag larger than the one I have so that I can bring more things onto the plane with me. A few things I bought I'd rather not put in my backpack.
