We're in Da Lat, and it's raining buckets. We're above the mountain evergreen line, so it's actually chilly, especially since it's evening and it's raining.

This morning, we got on the open tour bus from HCMC to Da Lat, and promptly fell asleep. Well, I didn't want to, but I couldn't help it. I was trying to get my journal up to date (didn't succeed, yet) but kept nodding off. The seats weren't even that comfortable, really -- not enough leg room.

We stopped at a couple of places along the way, just 5-minute photo-ops. We felt sort of silly taking pictures of the workers in the tea fields, as though they were zoo animals. We also saw rubber tree plantations, and gorgeous tropical mountain forests.

At about 2 in the afternoon, however, the vegetation changed dramatically. Up here, it's pine and bamboo instead of all the lush greens we've seen up to now.

Lush. Lush lush lush. That's the word that springs to mind, here. I want to eat all that green, it looks so fresh and tasty.

Tomorrow, we're going to do some sightseeing (provided it doesn't rain too hard) from the back of a motorbike. Two local guides convinced me (M-P took more convincing) to let them take us around Da Lat to see the sights, and since we won't be in a bus, there will be more photo-ops, which is a good thing.

And now, since I'm soaked and M-P wants to check her e-mail, I must sign off.
