Altering woes
Feb. 13th, 2004 07:01 pmMy gorgeous red dress, the one I bought last year but haven't worn yet, needs altering. That much was obvious when I bought it. What is also now obvious is that it's made very strangely: it looks as though it was made for a woman who's close to six feet tall (or wearing very high heels), whose hips are a size 10 and whose got a very long torso and large breasts. So the bottom half is fine on me but the top is both too long and too large. Adjusting the straps -- and they're not even spaghetti straps, they're wide -- will mean taking the damn thing apart. I thought for a moment that I might be able to do something about the length of the body, but then I remembered the side zipper, so I can't. Bloh. Although, if I were to only shorten it in the front and the back, narrowing my seam toward the sides...
Ah well, it's beautiful anyway.
It's also obvious that I really need a full-length mirror to see what I'm doing. I have to stand on the end of my bed to catch a glimpse of my hips in the mirror over my dresser and even then, it's difficult to see.
I reeeeeaaaaaaally hope I'll be able to get this done tonight. Because if I don't, I'll feel guilty about not having done my laundry, and I don't feel like going out again.
