Jun. 8th, 2004 06:21 pmAfter seeing Troy, I must admit that I could totally get into a movie version of The Odyssey starring Sean Bean. Unfortunately, Odysseus's story, as well as a whole bunch of other stuff, was left out of this movie. All things considered, it's not a bad film, so long as you don't think of the original text -- mostly it followed its own logic, except for leaving out the story of Achilles's heel and then still having him defeated because of it. It just makes Paris look even sillier than he already did.
Let's see, what else? Brad Pitt did what he could with what I thought was a badly-written part, Eric Bana impressed me (even though I kept thinking "Hulk!") and I really liked the construction of that famous pony. On the other hand, the face that launched a thousand ships wasn't all that great, the music -- the bombastic orchestra, that is, the female wailing was all right -- got on my nerves and I was sad they'd written Cassandra out.
This week is my last week of dance classes until September.
