Jul. 3rd, 2005 11:24 pmForgive me for interrupting your usual activities, but WE HAVE MUSIC IN THE CAR!!! It had been far too long. I can't imagine how I managed all those drives to Cantley and back -- of course I sang, but it's not the same thing. Driving in silence is just one of those things that has to be done, but driving with a soundtrack is a pleasure worth singing out loud!
My new computer makes the oddest creaking noises when it thinks. I suppose I'll get used to it, but for now I keep looking under the desk to see who's walking around in the corner.
Back to five-day weeks now, and I'll be starting a second job shortly. It's a sort of follow-up to the catalogue/archival work I did for the Hysterical Association three years ago, this time involving adding the photograph collection to the catalogue. I was told it would be about one hundred hours of work, spread over three months. A couple of evenings a week and the occasional weekend should suffice.
Our Canada Day barbeque was a success, success that can be measured by the quantity of sangria consumed (lots), the state of the kitchen floor (frightful, until G cleaned it) and the piles of food left over. G had bought enough meat for an army, you see, so we had lots of brochettes, steaks, hamburger patties and hot dogs left over.
This afternoon, between hanging the laundry up to dry and checking on G's progress with our little computer family, I sat in the shade in my chaise longue, reading. The weather was perfect and every now and then I'd go walk around in the frog-shaped kiddie pool we got the other day. When I'd read as much as I was planning to, I let myself doze. The clothes on the line flapped in the breeze, which also swayed the tree above me, creating a slightly dappled effect on my legs. I was only wearing a bathing suit and the afternoon heat was dissipating, so I wondered whether I should get up and take my sarong from the clothesline to cover myself, but G called me in to answer the phone, waking me up completely.
