I was right, I am in considerable pain. And G thinks it's fun to poke at me!

Ah, Amazon, how you, or rather your reviewers, amuse me. From a review of Cyrano de Bergerac: This movie's set back in ancient times where they knights and women in very elegant gowns. It's about a guy named Cyrano who's seriously in love with a woman named Roxane, but there's one problem, this other man likes her (i forget his name) and she likes him too, also Roxane and Cyrano are cousins. Roxane's totally unaware of Cyrano's feelings for her since he's way too shy to let her know of them and Cyrano is extremely self concious about his nose since it's so big. Bonus: another reviewer describes Gérard Depardieu as "fonomanal"! XD

Anyway, it seems that being in Japan has rekindled my interest in the classics, all those works I know about, have read bits and pieces of, seen movie or theatrical adaptions of, but haven't actually read. In my defense, the reason I'm in that situation regarding English literature is that I was schooled in French until university, at which time they wouldn't let me take classes like "The Romantics" or "The 19th Century Novel" because I wasn't doing an English Honours degree. Bloh. Though that wasn't all bad, because I took "Science Fiction" and "The Mystery Novel" and "Old English", which were all great classes. Still, before packing up I went through my father's books and selected some I thought I ought to read, such as Dickens, Defoe, Margaret Laurence, etc. I also have a complete collection of the works of Shakespeare to keep me occupied, because I've only read four of his plays, a couple of them abridged versions, at that.

Speaking of Shakespeare, I really want to get Slings & Arrows on DVD. Considering they played it constantly on Bravo, it's a wonder that of the six parts, there's one I've never seen in its entirety. So see it, everyone! It's got Paul Gross and Rachel McAdams, for those wanting well-known names, but the entire cast is incredible and it's a hilarious look at the theatre, often darkly so. Also, it's Canadian!
