Aug. 4th, 2007 12:42 amI've been covering Tokyo (and Nikko!) on foot since my aunt got here, so my list of seen-and-read has been languishing, even though I watched most of those things back in May and June. Anyway, here's one, the rest will follow... all in good time.
Monster: I heard about this anime over two years ago, and wrote down the title because it looked promising. And I finally got around to watching it! I liked it quite a bit, though I did think it dragged a little around episodes 50 to 60 or so, when everyone was just waiting around for Johann to do something, already. At the beginning, I thought, "Oh great, now we're going to have episode after episode of Dr. Tenma arriving in yet another quaint German village and curing charming German villagers of their cough/influenza/brain damage." Fortunately, that was not the case and the story progressed satisfactorily for the most part, though I'd still like to know how a wanted man, on the run for years, managed to hop over the Czech-German border so many times. I'm assuming his life's savings went to bribing the border guards. One thing I must point out is that I really, really liked the character designs for this show and the attention that was obviously given so that each person, no matter how little screen time they got, had a distinctive look. It seems obvious, but in a series such as this one, which cannot rely on each character having wildly unnatural hair to differentiate them, this kind of thing is important.
In other news, there are big fat drops of sweat rolling down my body. I feel so sexy right now! >___
