Hajimete...
Apr. 1st, 2008 06:48 amWaking up at 6 was not as brutal as I thought it would be, despite the fact that my cunning plan of going to bed early (for once!) was foiled by my taking longer than I'd have liked to fall asleep.
Oh, well. I suppose the kids will wear me out enough that I won't have that problem tonight!
On the other hand... NO... CLASSES... TO... PREPARE! *tosses confetti* Aside from my private lessons, of course, but those include a total beginner (so I can pretty much wing it), a girl with her own textbooks (okay, next page!) and a lady who's advanced enough that we mostly converse.
Yesterday I bought my first ikkagetsu no teiki (monthly commuter pass), which is nothing like a regular bus/subway pass back home: you choose your stations of departure and destination and your route, so you're limited to that (if you deviate from the route, you have to pay a regular fare, as usual). Also, it cost me $175, which will thankfully be reimbursed by my school.
I thought of April Fooling you and talking about my new job as a hostess, or something, but I'm too bleary for that right now. I think I'll have some delicious flakes of corn* instead. Then I need to get dressed, pack my lunch, cut my fingernails and convince my hair to dry a little bit faster before I stumble off into the early morning light.
* That's what it says on the box -- and how bizarre is it that I've come all the way to Japan only to find myself eating corn flakes produced in Egypt?
