Normally, I'm rarely sick. (Just so you know, I am knocking very hard on wood as I type this. It's harder than you may think.) But yesterday, I was sick. Sick as a dog. Do we even say that in English? At any rate, malade comme un chien. Une chienne, perhaps. Sick like a bitch. Heh. :D

Anyway, how sick was I? So sick that being upright for more than fifteen seconds made me feel like I was going to pass out, I was so dizzy. Sick enough that the only things I ate all day were a small bread roll and half a container of plain microwave rice, and I had to force even those down because I had no appetite whatsoever. Sick enough that the only thing my poor brain could absorb was America's Next Top Model, and even that required some napping between episodes. Sick enough that I couldn't even stomach the thought of getting up, getting dressed and crawling over to the store to get some sort of ant-killing product: instead, I just lay miserably on my futon, with barely even the strength to squish the ants coming toward me over the tatami.

Thankfully, it was a 24-hour bug (the sickness, not the ants, unfortunately), so I'm all better today, and more on top of things. I bought ant poison as well as cockroach poison (I'd rather be safe than sorry on that front!) and have just figured out that the reason there are ants all over my KEYBOARD is not because there is in fact an anthill inside, but because the previous owner of said keyboard (that would be G) obviously wasn't too careful about keeping it crumb-free.

Bloh.

Now I'm trying to lure the ants into the trap with the promise of a TOTALLY HEALTHY VIKING.

I don't think I mentioned it here, but the hotel B1 and I stayed in when we went to Osaka had a breakfast viking*. We laughed, took pictures of the sign and decided that it was a pretty good deal at Y800/person for the opportunity to combine the Japanese, Western and Japanese-Western hybrid breakfast items in new and scary configurations. It must be said, though, that we were very disappointed that the sign did not feature any type of actual person of the Scandinavian variety, with or without horned helmet.

* Viking = buffet, here. Maybe someone thought smorgasbord was too hard to pronounce but wanted to keep the Scandinavian link?
