Adventure on the high seas (of Tokyo Bay)

Yesterday was Talk Like a Pirate Day and, as usual, I failed to remember that fact until I was ready for bed. Still, though I did not grab my cutlass and head off to find booty and plunder on the seven seas, I got my yukata on and boarded a boat. ( Here be me lovely shipmates, )

Since the cruise was nomihoudai, it was crowded with salarymen downing as much beer as they could manage. I only had one drink (NOT beer! Thanks, Lindsay, for finding the non-beer drinks table, tucked inconspicuously away in a corner XD) because I was tired from a week of Hyo having screaming temper tantrums and because I hadn't eaten anything yet. Also, there was dancing, and we attracted a lot of attention because we were both foreign and among the only people wearing yukatas. We had our pictures taken by lots of different people, and were talked to by random guys wanting to practice English. One guy made me laugh, because he kept saying, "Your group," (meaning the three of us) as though we were an official club or something. Why yes, we are the Foreign Chicks in Yukatas Association. Would you like to sign up for our mailing list? XD

I would have taken more pictures myself, except that my camera has been acting bratty lately, i.e. having trouble focusing on things, especially in low-light conditions. I'd very much like to upgrade to a D80 (and a wider-appertured lens!), but that's money I really don't have right now. I'm tempted to blow my first second-job paycheque on that, except that a) the paycheque would not be enough, and b) I've already told myself that with my first second-job paycheque I will splurge on some new jeans and some fashion boots. As opposed to winter boots, because I already have some of those (bought in Canada) and they're too warm for Tokyo.

Now I should get dressed, because I'm about to head off into the wilds of Yosuka to help Becca move. *dons safari gear*
