Oct. 29th, 2008 02:01 amI've been watching the end of season 5 of Project Runway while I hand sew, and in a weird way it's helped lower my stress level. Because after all, I'm only rushing to complete these costumes for a preschool Halloween party, not Fashion Week. XD
I've also come to learn certain things:
- I'm way better at pattern drafting and draping than I give myself credit for;
- working with satin is easier than I thought it would be;
- the solution to everything is really to press every single seam;
- I have mad hand sewing skillz when it comes to finishing the inside of yokes and waistbands;
- however, I suck at skirt hems, mainly becauseI'm too lazy I haven't the time to do them properly (i.e. by hand) and so I rush them through the machine and they turn out all wonky;
- it always takes longer than I think it will;
- I'll be getting 4 hours of sleep tonight. If I'm lucky.
