...and she was pathetic!

I ate too much, again. *gurgle* Good Indian food, though, with a mango & yoghurt shake... Yummy.

Since we didn't book for a city tour today, we decided to do it ourselves, which meant walking around for four hours or so, being offered rides by motorbike and cyclo drivers every twenty feet. We did, however, manage to see the Po Nagar Cham towers, the Lang Son Pagoda with its giant seated Buddha (no, it wasn't the 200-ton solid gold one, unfortunately) and the Nha Trang Cathedral. Yes, they have an actual Gothic cathedral here, though it's nowhere near as impressive as what I saw in Europe. On the ramp leading up to it (because it's on a hill) are statues of the apostles and other biblical figures, with their names spelled out phonetically in Vietnamese, which is something I hadn't seen before.

After that, it was past 2 o'clock, so we thought we'd spend some time on the beach. Before that, however, we had to go back to our hotel and put on our swimmers. There must have been a power outage, because it's only when we finally stepped out that the fan and the lights started working.

We went back to the same restaurant we'd eaten at yesterday, and this time sampled their Indian fare, which passed with flying colours. In fact, we were very sad to have to waste the last few bites of those huge helpings, but there was no way we could eat a morsel more.

After that, we continued along the beach to the Louisiane Cafe, a friendly place that lets you use their deck chairs, pool and private beach if you buy something at the restaurant or the bar. I had a tasty Tropical Rum (they're very generous with the rum) and swam around their pool for a bit. It was too late to make use of the deck chairs on the beach, but we went into the ocean for a little swim all the same. The waves are nothing compared to what I saw in France (or in California, for that matter), but it was quite refreshing.

And now, it's not even 7:30 and I'm already worn out. It doesn't help that the sun sets around 6:30, here, and by 7 it's totally dark.

Tomorrow? Tomorrow we beach! All right, first we're going to the bank to change some traveller's checks, because we've run out of cash, then to the post office to make a few calls, and *then* we beach. And eat. M-P has promised to treat me to sushi for my birthday, and I'm going to hold her to that.

Becs. Becs.
