So I asked
krk to interview me and she started off with a bang, asking about
1. While I am "down" with boyxboy (Gravitation was awesome), I am not a fan of slash fanfiction. What are you thoughts on slash fanfics?
I like them and I'll read them by the truckload! However, I'm only interested in anime fanfiction. Anything based on a book, a movie, a tv series? Not interested. I'm not sure if it's because I discovered the wonderful world of fanfiction because of anime, or because movie/series-based fanfiction feels like real-person-slash and book-based fanfiction doesn't work for me because of differences in writing styles, but I've never felt any desire to delve into either. It's anime or nothing, and even then, only series I really care about.
That said, I do have different filters depending on what I'm reading. Some I'll read just because it's hot, though I don't believe that the character is the slightest bit interested in the same sex (lots of Prince of Tennis stuff falls into this category); others I'll enjoy because that really is how I see the character (see: also, lots of Prince of Tennis stuff XD). And sometimes, I just like reading about a world where everyone is gay and nobody cares! ^_^
2. Do you ever see yourself leaving Japan? Back to Canada? To live somewhere else?
When I came to Japan, it was to be for three, maaaaybe four years. Now that I'm the only one I need to answer to, who knows? I do plan on returning to Canada, but for now, that's "one day..." far in the future. There are plenty of other places that would be cool to live in (Hong Kong was a definite possibility before I landed my current job), but I really like my life here, so I don't plan on moving anytime soon. Also, I have Tabitha to think about; I'm not going anywhere I can't take her with me.
3. If you had a choice of ANY language in the world, what would you chose as your native tongue and why?
I think I'd have to say French. On the practical side, it's part of a healthy family of languages that are fairly easy to learn once you've got your foot in the door via one language, and it's also not too far-removed from many other European languages. It's got an incredible body of literature and so many different accents, so many different modes of expression (I'll save my rants on French's, or rather the People In Charge Of French's restistance to change for another day).
If it's cheating to pick one of my native tongues, and assuming that none of my circumstances (country of birth, upbringing, etc) would change, I think I would pick Mandarin. I love the sound of it, and it's got such a rich, long history. Also, the characters are pretty. ^_^
Old English is also a pretty cool language, but of sadly little use these days.
4. In your opinion, what is the wildest thing you have ever done? Do you regret it?
Going by the popular definition of "wild", I'm an incredibly boring person, and my answer would probably be a toss-up between "smoking pot" and "using handcuffs during sex" (and no, I don't regret either), so I won't use that definition. XD
Defining "wild" as in "doing something I never imagined myself doing", I'll answer that the wildest thing I've ever done was stay in Japan when most of my instincts were agreeing with my family that I should go home, curl up in a corner and lick my wounds after my marriage had imploded. But I stayed because I knew deep down that it was the best thing to do, telling myself I could build myself back up. And I did. It was painful, and it took a while (it's an on-going process, really), but I'm really proud of myself. If there's one thing I regret about it all, it's that I didn't cut off as much contact as possible with G sooner, though there were (fairly) sound practical/logistical reasons for that. Apart from that, je ne regrette rien! :D
5. You meet a genie. He will either grant you one wish for yourself or three wishes that will benefit others. Which would you chose and what would your question(s) be?
I would wish for my parents to be able to retire comfortably right away, if they so chose; I'd wish for B1 to find what he really wants to do in life and to take that first step toward it; I'd wish for B2, who does know what he wants to do with his life, to be able to do exclusively that.

That is the main reason I read yaoi/yuri fanfiction or roleplay it over MSN, because while there are conflicts and such, it's hardly over someone being gay. I'm so tired of having to worry about gay, or having hate. (Then there's the overtly flambouyant gays that I don't really like either XD).
