After the onsen, I participated in an evening of extreme girliness. Eda had chosen the Princess Heart Café as the site of her birthday celebration, and in case you were wondering, the theme of the place is pink. Lots of pink. Also, ruffles. Pink ruffles. Eda looked adorable in her pink (of course!) dress, the food was good, and it was a fun evening.

It seems that all the cool restaurants are in Ginza, so that's where we met up. Here are James, William, Eda and Sarah (Jamie and a couple of Eda's other friends joined us at the restaurant).

Take a look at the froofy, pink princessy-ness of the sign!

Once inside, things got a little stranger. But what do I know, maybe weird fake stuffed deer heads are totally what princesses are into, nowadays!

The birthday girl herself!

Ducking to be out of the shot...

I won't bore you with pictures of all the food (yes, I photographed it all, shut up!), but this ones bears examination. What the hell is it supposed to represent??? Is it meant to echo the creepy deer things on the wall?

Eda got a special dessert plate:

The rest of us got this:

Now try and tell me it doesn't look like that cake roll has boobs! XD

The crowning moment of the evening, however, was when we got up to leave and realised that Eda had just spent the whole meal sitting on a somewhat dirty poem! I looked it up, and it turns out it's a song, released in 1969, sung by Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg. I always find it interesting to see how much more explicit French songs tended to be than English songs, back in the day. ^_^ Anyway, here's what it was all about (they got it right, except for a couple of random capital letters and the punctuation).

Translation of the back of the chair (odd punctuation left intact):

I love you I love you
Oh yes I love you!
Me neither.
Oh my love
Like the unresolved wave
I go I go and I come
Between your hips*
I go and I come
Between your hips
And I hold Myself Back.

[* lit. "kidneys" but used poetically in French to mean the lower back or hips]

And what did the seat reply?

I love you I love you
Oh yes I love you!
Me neither.
Oh my love,
You are the wave, I the naked island
You go you go and you come
Between my hips
You go and you come
Between my hips
And I join You
I love you I love you
Oh yes I love you!
Me neither.
Oh my love
