Haha yeah, that's happened to me in the bookstores here before too, and almost always felt creepy! That's another thing that struck me as weird-- she mentioned randomly starting up convos with people at bookstores, but how could she imagine something that feels creepy to actually work? O.O Who goes to a bookstore in Japan to do meet people? That doesn't leave any time for the precious tachiyomi!
