Still Valid!
I'm glad these two are short! Let's see if I can get them done in under ten minutes -- it's still technically the 4th! ^_^;;;
Day 04 - What's your favourite place that's not in any of the guidebooks/lists of places to visit?
For the Tokyo area, I always recommend visitors go to Kawagoe. As far as I know, it's the only place in the are with authentically old buildings, and if you can't get out to Kyoto, it's something along the same lines. Not exactly the same style, but old, and unlike anything you'll see in the downtown area. It's up in Saitama, along the Seibu line (I think?) but you can do it in half a day. Apart from the street lined with old shops, there's part of the former residence of a samurai lord that you can visit, and probably a few shrines and temples, too.
Another cool place is the open air traditional house museum. It's along the Odakyu line, and has traditional houses from different regions of the country. You can go inside them, and if you're lucky, you might get to see people demonstrating some traditional craft or other. When I went with my aunt, we were taught how to weave a leaf into a grasshopper.

Day 04 - What you ate today
For breakfast, I had a mochi bun I bought yesterday, but didn't get around to eating. It had black sesame seeds and was stuffed with sliced carrots and gobou (burdock root, which I really like). For a snack at work, I had three little clementines and a little chocolate bar (left over from our Halloween parties at school). Lunch was Thai red curry on white rice. Later on, I had another little chocolate bar and a couple of handfulls of vegetable chip-like things. I also drank tea throughout the day; green in the morning, jasmine in the afternoon. I met up with Eda for dinner, and had the "shrimp and vegetable healthy curry set" which included a small salad (I picked out the onion, because raw onion gives me the worst breath in the world), rice with beans in it, yummy curry with shrimp and broccoli, and a tiny bowl of yoghurt with strawberry syrup and nata de coco in it. From the drink bar, I had a glass of orange juice, two glasses of ice tea, and a cup of rose hip tea. Then when I got home and had two cheese sticks, four little chocolate balls, and three pastry cups that were left over from Thanksgiving. I'm currently drinking some sort of herbal tea -- I don't know what kind, the label is in German.
