New Year's

I'm back from Montreal, full of Harvey's and the desire to sleep in tomorrow and not go to work. Sigh.

We managed to leave on Monday before noon (barely), after I'd dragged G out of bed; I guess he wanted to make up for it, so he drove extra fast and we made it to Montreal in under two hours. Then it took a little while to find my aunt's apartment, but we didn't get lost on the way and found parking right where she'd suggested. Afterwards, so as not to waste the day, we went to Plaza St-Hubert and poked around until it got dark. Because we planned to go out dancing, we hurried back to St-Denis to have supper, wolfed down our food and went back to Anne's, leaving us time to have a nap, get dolled up and go out.

Well, so much for "the city that never sleeps"! We got to the Tokyo Bar and it was closed. We searched half-heartedly for another bar, me freezing my legs and feet off because I'd gone all out and worn high-heeled sandals, G apologizing and feeling bad for my toes, though it was hardly his fault. Half an hour later found us eating Chinese food on Ste-Catherine and though I felt kind of silly sitting there in dress, make-up and heels, we did technically sort of "go out".

Yesterday we (I) shopped St-Denis, taking advantage of all the end-of-year sales. I got nice new clothes; G got nothing, if not the fun of my reaction whenever he wanted me to "Try this on!"

Since it was New Year's Eve, we went out in style. Japanese style, that is. Kaiso and tempura and sushi, yum yum! My red dress fit like a second skin and by god, any second skin of mine had better be flexible enough to accommodate a tummy-full of raw fish! We took our time and by the time we left, the partying crowds were just getting started. But not us, oh no, not us! We had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us in the fridge, so we retired to the apartment and spent a romantic evening reading short stories aloud and sipping bubbly cut with orange juice. Being rather tired, I was asleep by 1:30.

Before leaving Montreal today, we stopped over at my cousin's house for a chat and coffee/tea. Her youngest son, Liam, was running around the place without his pants, which was pretty funny. Anne was there as well and it was nice to see her, because usually she only comes down to Ottawa when I'm away.

Back to work tomorrow... Gah!
