Jul. 8th, 2003 03:01 pmApparently in the U.S. they're pushing for a growth-inducing hormone treatment to be made available to short but otherwise healthy children (it's currently used on kids who have hormonal imbalances). Can you imagine thousands of parents putting their kids through years of shots and pills that can give them a few centimetres but that in some cases, don't work at all?
Because everything is a disease or a condition, now; god forbid a kid be shorter than average, even though average is found by determining the middle ground.
There isn't much that really scares me, but this does, along with the push by pharmaceutical companies to have everything declared a disorder so they can sell more drugs.
