Driving around town here is now mostly "off-road". The city workers seem to have decided that nicely paved asphalt road do not provide enough of a challenge to the large majority of drivers. They have therefore decided to tear up most downtown roads and leave rocky rubble in their wake ... I kid you not, there is construction on practically every other block!!
Most likely a gov't "make-work" program to stimulate the economy. *grumble, grumble*
