I found ADSL noticeably faster, but it tended to "cut-off" occasionally (requiring re-connecting), and not work at all on rarer occasions. Bell also decided to impose some upload/download limits (pretty big limits of about 10 gigs per month, but I wouldnt stand for it), and that was the last straw for me, so I dropped them and went for cable.
Cable works fine, but noticeably slower (but still light-years ahead of dialup!), fixed IP address (had to get a firewall due to privacy/hacking concerns). But no download limits ....
