What a rare ocurrence! I had a dream with not only a story line, but a fight to the death and the possible destruction of the world!

At first I was someplace with G, my parents and perhaps a couple of other people. We were vacationing someplace far away from home, though it wasn't too exotic, probably in Europe, maybe Italy. In a small village by the sea, I'd found a woodworker/potter's shop where I wanted to buy souvenirs, it being our last day there. For some reason, the only souvenirs I was considering were fondue forks. There were some nice ones with carved wooden handles painted different colours, but no full set, so I resigned myself to buying unmatched forks. There were price stickers on them but they were hard to read so I went and asked the artisan how much they cost.

Then some odd things happened but it's kind of hazy. I think the woodworker turned out to be my father (?!) and I tried to hide the pitchfork I'd bought for G behind my back so he wouldn't see it. There was also something about my wanting to cut up old tank tops to make boxer shorts for [livejournal.com profile] kimchii and [livejournal.com profile] desayuno. O_O One pair was goind to be navy and pale blue, the other red and yellow. Guess who was to get which pair!

Later on I was in a city where a girl I once knew (from school, I suppose) had been either possessed by or had been given the power to completely destroy things. She had a silver baton, about a foot long, that could turn into any number of weapons, but mostly it was a whip. I think we were still in that far-off place, because the city was on the edge of the sea. She was after me and another person (another old friend?) and as we ran through the streets, we tried to figure out how we could use our own powers -- for indeed we had some, though I can't recall what they were anymore -- to stop her. We knew that once she was through with us, she'd likely go after everyone else.

I remember that there were some brief confrontations, mostly in crowded places. I was hoping it would discourage the whip-wielder from using her full strength, but she didn't seem to care, so we always ended up having to run away from her once more. At length, it was only me trying to escape from her but as we confronted each other yet again, this time on top of a six- or seven-storey building, I realised that she wasn't acting of her own free will; the silver whip was calling the shots. Even so, she wasn't trying to stop it. As I dodged her attacks, trying to get my own in, she explained that it was our destiny and that if it were someone else, the outcome would likely be much worse.

Then, I'm not quite sure how, but I managed to grab hold of the whip. Once it was in my hand, only the handle was left, but I knew I could call the rest of it back into existence at anytime. I turned back to the other girl, who had a sad little smile on her face. The sky to the east was growing dark and we looked out at the gathering clouds. Only it wasn't clouds, it was some sort of huge cyclone that was turning the horizon a sickly shade of rust. I knew then that it had started and that no matter what I did, the city would be hit.

We ran at each other again and at the last moment I decided that I had nothing left to lose anyway, so I wrapped my arms around her and pulled us over the edge. We fell. The impact was surprisingly gentle. When we got up, the silver handle was gone and I had no idea whether or not we were still alive. The cyclone had reached the port and was winding its way back and forth through the streets, flattening buildings as it went, so we tried to figure out its path so we could avoid it and try to help people escape.

It's after us, I thought, as it erratically changed direction and started moving toward us yet again.

Well, that was fun.

I'm almost done House of Leaves! Strictly speaking, I am done, but I haven't finished the appendices yet, so I think I'll do that this afternoon.
