En passant par La Rochelle...
...avec mon sac à dos!
I spent much of my day in the train, but that's okay because I love trains. I love their motion, their sounds, I love the illusion they create when they pull out of the station and it looks like it's the train next to yours that's moving. Also, it gave me the opportunity to nap between Rennes and Nantes, even thought my seat was rather uncomfortable. On my last train (guess from where to where! ^_^) I kept awake, because this time I had a window seat! Also, I had a nice cushy seat with a little table so I could set up my MP3 player and my water bottle in front of me. The countryside was very green, quite a change from what I saw in Canada this year, and there was the occasional ruined barn of stone house that made it even more picturesque.
I arrived at the La Rochelle train station at 4:00 and managed to find the youth hostel in under half an hour. Very nice place; the beds are even made up for you!
Right now, I'm at an internet cafe (the terminal at the youth hostel is out of order), which is why I'm writing a bit more than I did the other days, since I don't have to keep feeding money to the computer. This is good, because it's less stressful, but it's bad because it's easy to spend more time than you intended to.
Tomorrow night as well as the following one, I hope to sleep in Biarritz. This will be just about my only chance to spend some time on the beach, so I really hope the weather will be nice to me. So far, it's been just this side of dismal, but at the moment it's warm and sunny with a delicious ocean breeze.
Note to all (moist and smooth relations included): you can leave comments, you know; I may be having lots of fun without you, but a voice from home is always a welcome thing! ^_^
And now, I'm off to hunt for food.

Go yaourt girl!
