The sun! It burns!

Don't worry, my non-update yesterday wasn't caused by my decision to join a convent (though I did share a train compartment with a nun yesterday), nor did I elope with the gorgeous German girl I roomed with in La Rochelle (Bashy, you would have been nothing but a little pile of drool!); I simply got to the hostel too late to use their computer.

Yesterday I climbed to the top of the tour de la Lanterne in La Rochelle, which was used for centuries as a prison and as such has lots of interesting graffiti inside. The view from the top is splendid, too.

Today I put on my trusty bathing suit and braved the frigid waters of the Atlantic... almost. Mostly, I braved the scorching sun of the coast, and I think my sunscreen must be too old because my shoulders burned *even though* that's where I'd slathered it on the thickest. Humph. My face didn't burn, so that's good.

The beaches are marvelous, with huge foam-crested rollers. Beautiful. Such a soothing noise to lull you to sleep... Too bad the hostel is too far from the ocean to hear it.

Tomorrow I leave at 9 for Carcassonne, in all its medieval glory. I hear it's well worth the trip, but I hope it's not so medieval that I can't find an internet cafe to tell you all about it!

I cooked myself my first real meal tonight, I didn't feel like eating another sandwich. So far I've been very good with food; my most expensive meal cost me about 8 euros.

Crois-le ou non je ne me suis pas vraiment inquiétée de ne pas avoir de message hier. Presque pas. Vraiment, presque pas.

J'ai enfin réussi à forcer nos hommes à t'écrire chacun un message. Les pauvres hommes, ils ne comprennent pas que c'est très agréable d'avoir des messages à lire, même quand on est en vacances. Ton père dit que c'est typique d'une femme. Oui, et puis...

Les lilas et les pommetiers (et notre pommier) sont ENFIN en fleurs. C'est joli.

À Carcassonne tu vas déjà entendre une pointe d'accent du Sud. Là-bas ils disent "l'ac-sa-gne" et Carcason-nee. Tu nous en reparleras.

Jusqu'à maintenant, comment sont les vrais Français de France. Est-ce qu'ils rient vraiment comme des fromages?

salut ma chouette

je pense a toi tous les jours et je pense à la chance que tu as de vivre ton rêve! C'est triste que je suis pas là! *sniff*! Oh well, je me fais du fun ici, je vais planter des carottes pis des fèves avec Amy! C'est tellement excitant! Et je vais aller danser dans un club avec bash, et je vais y trainer Big G aussi.

Je n'ai toujours pas de job! Que je suis paresseuse!
