For all my talk of sewing, it seems to me that I haven't actually done all that much of it. I know that's technically not true, because a good chunk of last year's output was not for me, such as dance costumes and presents. Since I didn't do a "Recap of 2005" post, this will be a pale shade of what such a post might have been,

Sewn for me:

- blue and green checked skirt
- green, short-sleeved, button-down shirt
- black polkadot dress worn to friend's wedding (quite cool-looking, must use pattern with different fabric)
- red cotton knee-length skirt
- blue bias-cut dress worn to G's sister's wedding
- frog stuffie
- my blue, sparkly, sequined, silk-lined wedding dress

Sewn for others:

- Chinese-style top for M-P (2005, right?)
- Chinese-style top for A-L
- brocade skirt for M-P
- pyjama pants for G
- 2 pyjamas for Anna + slippers!
- pyjamas for G's sister and brother-in-law
- a few scarves for my mother
- large scarf/shawl for G's mother
- tote bag for Andrea
- lots and lots of gift bags (lots as in, I used up a whole sari!)

Costumes:

- 6 short, red, sequined wraparound skirts
- 6 long circular skirts with ruffle
- 6 knee-length, black side-tie skirts
- 5 short purple and pink skirts
- 6 pairs of fingerless gloves
- 3 black knee-length skirts with red lining
- various scarves, ribbons, headpieces and such

Started:

- skirt made from old kimono silk (mostly assembled)
- knee-length, blue and black check silk pencil skirt (needs zipper and hemming)
- silk coat based on Regency-style pattern (sleeves need lining, top and skirt and sleeves need to be joined, needs hemming and hook-and-eye closures)
- turtle stuffie, with 5 others cut out and good to go

That... seems like quite a lot, really. Not that much of it was for me, even!

On a related note, I've taken to reading several knitting blogs recently, even though I'm not actually a knitter, as I don't think three pairs of mittens in seven years or so qualifies. But at least I don't feel so bad about my fabric stash, though I'm beginning to wonder whether a yarn stash mightn't be more economical, at least space-wise. Reading about 25$ skeins of yarn makes me glad I'm only buying reasonably-priced pieces of material, though one could argue that the 30$ I paid for 1m of fabric with an EXTREMELY COOL PRINT is excessive, but it's not my fault! Damn British, even when their pound is weakening, it's still strong. ;_;

I really have to do something about my jumps, they're just not right. In ballet I'm fine, but in jazz and lyrical, I can't see any improvement over when we started in September, especially on my not-quite-stag-leaps-started-facing-backwards-with-front-leg-straight-and-back-arched. I'm not sure what the problem is; I'm probably not giving myself enough of a push, but there's that and the turning and the cambré and the arms and GAH! It's really frustrating. I'm trying to think of a way to help myself -- obviously, arriving a bit early on Thursday to practice before I start teaching would be one. Would losing weight help? I'm seriously considering it. Also, teaching myself to jump in slow motion and have third-person perspective multi-angle vision would be great, though probably not possible by June.
