Jul. 15th, 2004 11:20 pmWalking past a Vietnamese restaurant today, I breathed in the smell of Vietnam: damp pavement, hot vegetation and the faintest hint of cooking rice. It made me think that perhaps I don't write enough about smells in my travel journals. I just read my entire journal from Mexico and I didn't describe the smells at all! Must do something about that. I'm also thinking about a new approach to journal-keeping: seeing as I have my own personal journal and lj (travelpod this time, I think), I should write them to complement each other and the hell with leaving things out in one or the other.
I had supper with Andrea tonight, who I hadn't seen since Xmas. We sat down in the restaurant before the supper "rush" (it wasn't that packed, really) and left after everyone else had. It's nice to renew old ties like that; I've known her since I was three or four, which is basically almost all my conscious life. She's the cousin I never had, not because I have no cousins, but because this is the kind of relationship other people seem to have with their cousins.
You know what? I'm leaving in ten days! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!
