Sep. 2nd, 2004

It was only a bit after 11 when my parents dropped me off in front of my apartment last night, but for me it was very, very late. When I opened the door and stumbled in, I didn't recognize the place and even when I turned on the lights, everything seemed wrong, as though the proportions were ever so slightly skewed. It's getting better, now that the sun is up, and my routine motions were are there, tucked away. Even drinking the tap water came back without hesitation.

The cleaning up I did before leaving was quite effective, as one of my first thoughts upon arriving was "This can't be my place, it's too tidy!"

Now I must go back to my normal life; already I have a list of things to be done in the next few days. Happily, I only go back to work on the 13th.
The theme song for our trip to Greece was that song by Hi-Five that kept playing everywhere. And now, I proudly present the theme song for Yaourt Girl and G's Summer Adventure 2004: Dragostea din tei, by O-Zone. It was playing EVERYWHERE I went and I had it stuck in my head for half the trip (the other half of the trip it was the proof that Britney Spears can't sing, a.k.a. Everytime, which I also heard EVERYWHERE I went). Only we had no idea what the song was; now that I know and have the mp3, I feel fulfilled. I even downloaded the video, which is hilarious. Go download it, too! Come on, it's a Romanian boyband acting goofy, jumping around, looking gay, dancing on airplane wings, etc. -- what's not to love?

I was awake at 7, this morning and for a time tried (and failed) to go back to sleep. At about 7:15, the phone rang. Who the hell phones at 7:15? Who the hell would phone me at 7:15? The only possibility I could think of was G, but no, not at 7:15, not him. Well, it was and it took me all I had not to keel over from the shock. It's funny, the habit of getting out and seeing stuff each day has turned us into productive little devils; we were out and about at 10 and we dropped our rolls of film off, had pho, saw Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban*, got computer games for G and bought groceries.

*It was darker, and I like darker. I also thought it made for a much better movie experience than the first two, even though it's too bad they never explained the Marauder's Map and Ron didn't get to do all that much. Unfortunately, I can't rate it as a great movie because it didn't manage to drum up any suspense. Yes, I know, I read the book -- but LotR had me on the edge of my seat and I'd read that several times.
