This year was the Year of Godiva (the chocolate). Last year, our succesfull students mostly brought bottles of wine as thank-you gifts, this year it was confectionery. My mum was nice enough to save a few pieces for me, plus there were the ones we were given before I left. And seriously, a couple of those Godiva boxes were HUGE, they must have cost a fortune! On a more personal note, one of the students I worked with for pretty much the whole year gave me a book by Edward Gorey (whose art I love) with a touching little thank-you note. Who says teaching is a thankless job?
