In movies and on tv, Why, when mathematicians start to formulate an equation, do they always do it on a massive chalkboard in an empty, badly lit classroom? http://www.salon.com/ent/tv/review/2005/01/17/i_like/index2.html

Ah, a woman after my own heart. Add to that, why do forensic scientists looking at samples do it in dark labs?

Saturday, G and I made a Japanese feast. On the menu: clear soup with scallops, simmered daikon (good, but not really worth all the effort to cook the damn thing), teriyaki chicken and sake-glazed salmon with rice and greens and for dessert, asian pear and ginger strudel. It was my first venture into the wild and wonderful world of pastries and I must say, it turned out very nicely, except for the juice that caramelized on the cookie sheet.

Sunday, I twisted G's arm until he took me shopping, so I could buy things. But it wasn't for me, oh no, it was for him! You may now speak of him as Funky Punkie, as he has cool new pants and a nice shirt. He didn't even faint from the pain, so it mustn't have been that bad.

It's odd to be purposefully setting aside time to read, but it also feels good. It's like going back to an old friend I'd neglected for far too long.

Hmm, the raspberry Bacardi liqueur I bought tastes pretty odd on its own. Not bad with fruit juice, mind you.

Ooh, Corner Gas in a few minutes.
