Not one, but two goals were scored by yours truly, last night. Go me! One was kind of a fluke, because I was standing right in front of the goalie when he fumbled, but the other one was a beauty. And with my left foot, to boot!

I woke up to a song with a curious refrain:

You roll up the rim to win, you roll up to save your soul
They teach you to love the doughnut and disregard the hole
I've always been agnostic but I heard the Christian call
The day I saw Lord Jesus on Lord Tim Horton's wall.

Ah, coffee shop conversion.

Today and tomorrow are competition days. I have to be at the Palais des congrès by 11:30 to get a younger group in order, but I don't have the CD with their music! My teacher said she'd drop it off but she hasn't yet, and now she must be starting her exam at university. I hope this won't cause a problem when it's time to sign them up.
Why do they dress them like pocket sluts? Why?! Come on, micro-shorts, a teeny-tiny hot pink bikini top and a black fishnet tank on a seven-year-old?

It's obvious these other schools have hardcore competition teams, but watching the jazz, it seems all the same. They all have sparkly, stretchy jazz costumes (and if you've ever flipped through a dance costume catalogue, you know what I mean) and the dances seem designed to show off how high the kids can kick. Which is not a bad thing in itself, but when it's just three minutes of jumping and kicking, it gets dull.

There was a solo (in the "other" category, which means it's neither jazz nor ballet nor acrobatic but maybe a little bit of everything) obviously designed just because the girl could do Cirque du Soleil-style contortions. The touble was, it had absolutely nothing to do with the music. She spent most of the time slowly rolling around on the floor while the music boom-boomed away. And when she did get up, every stag leap was followed by a roll on the floor, which leads me to believe that maybe she can't actually land them properly.
