Jun. 5th, 2005 10:49 pmOoh, my body has this general achy feeling which leads me to believe that I'll be in some degree of pain tomorrow. On the other hand, it's amazing how flexible adrenaline makes me! I was nearer a split last night than I've been in years.
It's over, it's over, I'm free! I danced my last dance (until September, that is) last night, though I've no idea how I managed to stay up on pointe. I hope my toenail doesn't die like it did last time I danced to Canned Heat. Overall the show went very well; I was rather discouraged by the end because I screwed up many little things that I usually nail, especially frustrating with the ballet dances because that's supposed to be my forte! Though I didn't do too badly, I was disappointed in myself. Next year, I need to give myself a level up! As for my students, they impressed me by being mostly coordinated, certainly more than they ever were in class. I'll be teaching again next year, but perhaps another level, maybe the slightly younger class.
No more dance classes means I have weeknights to myself, now. It means we can take the car in to get the dashboard fixed and a new CD player installed, which was impossible before because I had to drive to Cantley three times a week. It means I'll be able to go back to reading! It means I can sew for myself, I don't have to clog my serger with spandex and sequins anymore, at least until next year.
Today I drove to Cantley for the last time in a while. My teacher had us older girls over for a bbq, so we sat in the sun sipping/guzzling sangria and eating way too much food. The combination of alcohol and heat made me lightheaded for a while, but dipping my feet in the pool and drinking some water helped cool me down for the drive home. Still, I think that was officially the start of summer for me, with this lingering heat, even at this hour.
