Let the festivities commence!
Dec. 10th, 2005 04:27 pmI attended two Christmas parties this week, to kick off the holiday season in style, with lots of wine and smoked salmon.
First was the National Gallery's annual donor reception, which seems to be getting fancier every year, though this year is the 125th anniversary.
Me: I hope it's open bar again.
G: I hope there's lots of smoked salmon again.
*walk in*
Me: Ooh, wine!
G: Ooh, smoked salmon!
Me: Look! Tuna sashimi! And dessert provided by the Cordon Bleu school! O.O
G: Filet mignon brochettes! *dies of happiness*
Delicious.
And last night was [my former emplyer]'s Christmas party. Other years it was always on a Wednesday, which meant that more than one teacher called in "sick" the next morning, so the president decided to have it on a Friday this year. I was somewhat surprised when everyone started leaving at 8 anyway, but it was fun, with an Asian-inspired buffet this time around. Little chicken curry sandwiches, spring rolls, etc. And wine, of course.
Today G and I went to the Byward Market to eat sushi and shop for presents. We managed to get a good part of what we needed, including little gifts for our wedding guests. Now just watch me go all Martha Stewart and sew up cute little favour bags... Good lord, I think I will, I have the perfect fabric for it.
Quote of the day: Nothing is more gothic than hanging out in your wood-paneled rec room in your skull pajamas. (from http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=3396)
