Like [livejournal.com profile] lmcbeth, I've been in a rut, sewing-wise, but yesterday I decided to plunge back in head-first with -- wait for it -- cushion slips! I like cushions. These ones will be covered in a nice, crisp, plaid dupioni in shades of gold, chartreuse, red and brick. Perfect fall colours, not that Tokyo looks like it's anywhere near autumn, of course. If anything, the recent weather has felt like spring. Anyway, baby steps, baby steps. Musn't be too hasty. Yesterday I cut out the fabric, pondering the possibilities of piping. Today I ironed them out nicely, pondered piping some more, then thought that it would be better to do it on the bias. In this fabric of which I haven't much. Is it worth sewing all those pieces together? I'll see how I feel about it tomorrow, but at the moment I'm leaning towards the "I've never done piping before so it'll be a learning experience! And it'll be prettier." side of things.

Now that I'm properly set up, I have no excuse for not having sewn anything since Costume College. I've been buying fabric and I've been thinking about sewing, obviously, both costumes and regular clothes. I've got a Halloween outfit to plan, for one. Then, there's another "along for the ride" woman (because "dip spouse" sounds so... bleargh) who is always, every time I see her, wearing simple yet incredibly elegant clothes and I want to look like her, dammit! Okay, so she's gorgeous, willowy and Japanese, so I'll never look like her, but I can try to dress like her, can't I? She's invited me to watch a tea ceremony on Friday, I wonder what she'll be wearing! :)~ Anyway, all that to say that I have plans, I really do!
