Pretty things make me feel pretty
Aug. 20th, 2008 08:09 pmTabitha, it turns out, is a passive-aggressive little furball. Though she's been her usual affectionate self since I brought her home on Monday, she's suddenly taken to sharpening her claws on the corner wall between the kitchen and the bedroom, shredding up the wallpaper*. I'm fairly certain she's only ever done it when I'm around, too. Also, I awoke at four this morning to find her hanging from the wall in my sewing room. My Japanese-style rooms have wooden cross-beams three quarters of the way up the walls, and she had her front claws in one of those. I'm not sure what exactly she was trying to do, because the overhead cupboards just above her were shut, so there wasn't anywhere she could go. She still gouged the wall, though. >_<;
In less with-that-and-the-claw-marks-in-the-tatami-I'm-sure-Tabitha's-already-cost-me-my-pet-deposit news, I nearly bought two more yukata today. I didn't, because I didn't have enough cash on me, but oh, how I want to go back and buy them! One was pale pink with darker peach-pink flowers (crysanthemums? I can't recall) and black patterned leaf outlines that look like ink line drawings; the other was black with fushia, mango-orange and yellow flowers. I already have obi that would work with both of them, so I wouldn't be too tempted to buy that gorgeous dark turquoise one with the silver flower pattern on it that was in the same store, but... *whimper* Will there be any more excuses to wear yukata this summer? Shall I make one up? Anyone want to dress up for a yukata/karaoke evening or something? XD
Why am I even trying to justify this purchase to myself, when I'll probably just go ahead and make it anyway? I'm having a vision of the future, and it involves me going back to Shibuya, buying the damn things and telling myself they're my birthday present to me, even though I already bought myself a birthday yukata. M-P chipped in for that one, though. Now that A-L sent me some money too, maybe these one can be partly from her...?
* Those of you in Japan, you probably have the same stuff where you live: it's that off-white, waffly-looking, kind of rubbery-feeling wall covering I've seen in just about every house or apartment I've been in, here.
