Last week, I picked up Luck in the Shadows (by Lynn Flewelling) at Book Off, not expecting anything, because the thought of an hour on the train without anything to read terrified me that much. And now, I'm totally hooked! Has anyone else read this? I'm writing to my mum to ask her to send me the rest of the series -- what's been published, anyway -- for Christmas, and I'm already annoyed that I'll have to wait that long to find out just how much time it'll take Serengil to work his way into Alec's pants Alec to accept the inevitable. Because seriously, if it doesn't happen, I will be severely disappointed! D:<

Speaking of Christmas, I'm already plotting the use of my vacation time. I'm pretty sure there will be a Lord of the Rings -- OF COURSE EXTENDED EDITION! -- marathon in there somewhere, in case anyone is interested in joining me. I mean, what else am I going to do with two whole weeks off? XD

My throat is feeling ominously raw, so I'd better get some sleep. After all, I won't be able to finish the costumes to my satisfaction if I'm sick, even with the One-Woman Sweatshop (i.e. K, who will probably be camping out at my place this weekend to help me finish) at my beck and call.
Just when my finances are as tight as they've ever been since I left my parents' house, I've been told I'll be working a few extra hours at my day job, and I've been contacted by a woman interested in French lessons to the tune of 3 hours a week. So, yay! I've just got to gaman suru until my two cheques come in next week.

And then, it will be non-stop excitement! First off, I'm going to buy UNDERWEAR! Because honestly, my skivvies are in a sorry state. Not that there's anyone in my life right now who would care, but I'm getting tired of wearing panties that are either ratty, too big*, or both. And maybe I'll even look seriously at BRAS. *_* Also, I really want a proper standing IRONING BOARD! The small one I have is fine for clothes, but for taking care of large quantities of satin, it just doesn't cut it. And as if all that weren't exciting enough, I need to buy a... brace yourselves... a SPACE HEATER!!!

Ooh, be still, my beating heart! *swoons*

But feat not, I'm sure I'll manage to spend some of my money on frivolous things. Like... shoes! :D Except that shoes aren't frivolous, because both of my favourite pairs of flats are falling apart, what with all the walking I've been doing, and I always feel shabby when I'm out in public and am not wearing Cute Shoes (TM).

AH! I just remembered that tomorrow is Friday! Yay yay yay! :DDDD

* Apparently, I've lost a bit more weight, which I noticed because two weeks ago, I had to make a new hole in my belt. And even though I'm now at 34-28-38 1/2 (down from 37-31-42 1/2 two years ago -- losing G has meant losing a lot of unnecessary weight! :D), I don't think I'll ever fit into the size small bridesmaid dress Anna ordered for me. Let's just hope their sizes run a bit large and that the skirt is full at the hips. :}
