Aug. 13th, 2008 09:52 amSo I'm sitting in the internet cafe and there's a big cockroach crawling around the floor near my bag. I suspect it's trying to get at my book, because what roach wouldn't want to read a trashy romance novel? :D (I feel the need to add that I would never, gods forbid, buy such a book myself, but our hostel has a fully stocked library, and this is a title Anna told me I had to read, if I were ever to read a romance novel...)
Taiwan is still great, the food is still amazing, and we're in Hualien, about to have a beach day! It's sunny and hot, I've got my bikini, my towel, sunscreen, a hat, and two books (the book I brought with me, Murakami's "Kafka By The Shore", should be an effective antidote if I go into eye-rolling, oh-god-I-can't-believe-the-sap shock from "A Knight In Shining Armour").
I feel slightly hypocritical about mocking romance novels so much, but they're just so... Anyway, I prefer my romance in the form of fanfiction about gay tennis boys. XD

Date: 2008-08-16 12:40 pm (UTC)Sorry M-P can only be there 3 days, and you had to put up with the rain all day. I like that scene of Captain Tezuka and Fuji under the umbrella, too. It's good you're getting her into PoT. I can never get people into things I like, unless they want to.
I'm glad you are enjoying Taiwan. There are many good things to eat, but I can't eat a lot. My parents are from Taiwan, but I was born in the U.S. I've been to Taiwan only once, and that was a few years ago. I'm glad we went in the winter, or it would have been too hot. Hot and humid is terrible.
I'm not into romance stories. Sorry you had a cockroach bothering you.
I know it's early, but Happy Birthday! I might not have time to stop by on 8/17. Sorry I couldn't send you an e-card. I don't have your e-mail. That's nice of your family to send you a birthday card.

Date: 2008-08-17 08:27 am (UTC)Didn't manage to show M-P any PoT, because she wasn't here long enough. I'll be sending her DVDs, though!
What places in Taiwan did you visit? I didn't find it too hot or humid, but I've been in Tokyo for 2 years now, so I'm used to that kind of weather in the summer, for better or worse. :}
Thanks for the birthday wishes! :)
