Somehow, I feel as though I haven't had a proper weekend. Yesterday, I was productive at home and had my apartment spic 'n' span before 10 a.m. (what the hell was I smoking, anyway?!), chatted for an hour on Skype with my parents, then met K to go fabric shopping for our Disney costumes of doom princess outfits. For the 5 costumes I have to make, I bought 30m of fabric. 30! I never thought it would happen to me, but I was actually... fabric-shopped out. O_O

All this was done while enduring the runniest my nose has ever been, seriously. Like raging rapids from my sinuses, or something. Not fun, especially when elbowing through the raging hordes at Tomato on a Saturday afternoon. :(

Today my nose was mostly just stuffed up, but it was stuffed up all day during a teacher training workshop, my ears itched behind my eardrums (so there's nothing I could do about it!) and I had a headache to boot. Such a headache, in fact, that when I got home I immediately -- after determining that the cute little pill case that came with the box of aspirin I bought recently had rusted shut because of an unfortunate shampoo spill during my Taiwan trip, so I had to find the remaining tablets that were still, fortunately, in the cardboard box -- downed some aspirin. This is notable because on average, I take aspirin no more than five times a year, if that, so you know it's got to be bad when I'm thinking, "Must take pill! Must take pill!" I don't take any type of painkillers much at all because a) I'm rarely sick, b) I prefer to wait and see if the ache will go away on its own, and c) I hate swallowing pills.

I also determined that I needed chicken noodle soup, so that's busy simmering on the stove. My nose being in the state it is, I can't even smell it, but that could also be because I forgot to buy onions. At the supermarket, I was trying to think of what I needed: "Okay, I have carrots at home, so I need chicken, celery -- Y126 FOR ONE SINGLE STALK WHAT THE HELL JAPAN! -- and some small noodles. What's missing? I know I'm missing something!"

Alas, it was only when I had a handful of chopped carrots that I figured out what I'd forgotten, and who wants to go back out in this weather, anyway? Though the lightning is pretty. Maybe I'll get some onions on the way home tomorrow and add them...

Part of the training workshop was about left-brain learning vs. right-brain learning. We had a list of questions to answer, to determine whether we were right- or left-brained (I scored 7/10 for right-brained, i.e. more visual, creative, stronger short-term memory, in case you were wondering). One of the questions was about whether we plan ahead for time when doing work, or do we not think about time at all? I chose, "I plan time for doing my work," because... it didn't say anything about whether or not I actually followed the plan. ^_^

On the way home, I outlined a tentative schedule for working on the costumes. I have seven and a half weeks, and of that time, 5 days will be spent in Hokkaido and two more Sundays will be spent at training workshops, so I can write those days off. Since our school party is on the 31st, I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be up until the wee hours the night before, stitching the last bit or organza into place for Belle's gown or giving Pocahontas a few more beads so that she doesn't look so plain next to the rest of us. First order of business, though, is to get everyone's measurements! Must remember to bring measuring tape to work tomorrow.

Fun times ahead! :D

For the curious, here's a picture of the fabric

I'm sure you can guess by the colours, but here's the breakdown:

In the back left is Pocahontas: I couldn't believe my luck, because the very first thing I saw when I set foot in Tomato was this fake suedy material, in the perfect colour, for Y200/m. And I thought that would be the hardest thing to find! The aqua is for Jasmine, of course. The pink is for Aurora (me), and boy, will I be pink! :D The white organza is for my collar as well as Snow White's. Snow White has navy velvet for the bodice, and blue and red silk (from my stash) for the sleeves -- I think I'll make actual crevés. Her skirt is the yellow, which is also for Belle's gown (I got 8m of it, which I hope will be enough). The orange-looking organza in the back is the overlay for Belle's gown. It looks weird like that, but since the yellow satin has an almost greenish undertone, it counters the orange and the organza over the satin actually looks gold in person.

I'll still need to get the trim for everything (gold cord, beads, ribbons) and the accessories (necklaces, a tiara, gloves, etc.), as well as brief everyone regarding shoes and appropriate underwear. Not really, but the director (who is going to be Belle) was joking that she'd be running around so much she'd have to tie her skirt up, so she should wear bloomers underneath. XD

All right, soup's ready!
