Shitenho-ho-houji!
Dec. 25th, 2008 10:23 amMerry Christmas, everyone! *<[:)
I got books from my family, and Tabitha got a little toy that's made her go insane. More insane than she usually gets, anyway.
Last night was
So.
The Good:
Eiji and Inui popping out of from behind the tree made my night.
And... there was Sakuno! Of course, this is tenimyu, so Sakuno was a guy in drag, but still... *rofl*
Shitenhouji was awesome! Their introductory song, "Shitenho-ho-houji" was all kinds of <3.
Koharu and Yuuji were every bit as hilarious as I'd hoped. I knew the "Synchro" bit was coming up, so I was already giggling in anticipation, and it was everything I'd hoped for. XD That whole match was so much fun. When they started their antics, Oishi and Eiji shot each other this look, which clearly meant, "OMG, they're gayer than WE are! D:" And then Momo and Kaidoh get a song about how "Goddamnit, we can be totally gay too but we'll be MANLY about it!"
Chitose walked around dressed like a hippy. The Other Oshitari and Zaizen didn't get to do much, but they make a pretty backdrop! Kintarou was appropriately hyper, and his match against Koshimae, with smoke and wires and lifts was just as it should have been.
I really liked Shiraishi, though every time he raised his bandaged arm, I expected him to yell, "JAOU ENSATSU KOKORYUUHA!". But maybe that's just me. XD
Oshitari Yuushi teasing Kabaji was great:
Oshitari: So, Kabaji. If you had a girlfriend, what would you be doing on Christmas eve?
Kabaji: ...
Oshitari: ...
Kabaji: I'd ask my sister for advice.
Speaking of Hyoutei... Atobe's wig. I was awed by it!
Though the Golden Pair didn't get to play, they got some quality snuggling time in at the beginning, especially when it came time to announce *drumroll* Tezuka's doubles partner! :D Like, sure, Eiji, your racquet really needs to take up half the space on the bench, so you have no choice but to practically sit in Oishi's lap. Oh, boys. ^_^
I must admit, I am totally in love with 4th Inui. He's perfect. He's got the presence, the creepy laugh, and that stiffness in his movements that makes him both awkward and adorable. While the Golden Pair are officially my favourite characters (of course they come as a set!), Inui is my Seekrit Favourite, and this version of him is exactly how he is in my mind. I'll always adore 1st Inui, but I must admit he's a bit too lovable (and I get the feeling he played meta-Inui, if that makes sense).
For the F.G.K.S. finale, we got Koharu (Becca got to sing into his racquet!) and Kaidoh (whoah, eyeliner!) beside us. Fun times! :D
The Not As Good As It Could Have Been:
The ichinen trio didn't get a song! :( In fact, they barely had any lines at all (except the obligatory bench comments about how awesome everyone is) and no real comic relief moments.
The Seigaku opening song was a bit of a disappointment. It was okay, but not really memorable, and definitely nowhere near as good as the opening number for Imperial Presence. For me, it was Shitenhouji's first song that really set the tone for the evening.
Tachibana is one of those characters that I can't bring myself to care about much, and he got a whole match. It's nice to get the backstory, but it kind of interrupted the flow of things for me. I would much rather have had an ichinen song, or another comic Oshitari/Kabaji interlude.
That's all for now, I have to get ready for Christmas brunch!
