Thanksgiving again (or, this is getting bigger than I expected!)

So! Here's a revised list. Please comment (or text me, or something) to confirm and/or specify what you'll bring!

Me: stuffing, pie
[livejournal.com profile] nekonezumi: pie, cranberry sauce AND jelly (she is magical!), and also salad dressing
[livejournal.com profile] lizstarsky: mashed potatoes (and breasts? XD) emergency BREASTS, if no one else can find any fowl
[livejournal.com profile] llamachan: drinks (I vote red wine!)
[livejournal.com profile] dilettantka: "vegetables of some sort"
[livejournal.com profile] kurayamihimitsu + friend: drinks, maybe vegetables? last-minute stuff from the supermarket
[livejournal.com profile] later_uk: ?
[livejournal.com profile] genkischuldich + partner: ? bread, butter
[livejournal.com profile] hinoai: how's the search for meat coming along? ^_^
[livejournal.com profile] starrbeam: ? red wine, something dessert-ish
[livejournal.com profile] akahannah (possibly, maybe): alcohol

Re: vegetables, I guess corn, peas, carrots, etc. would be good, to those thinking of bringing that.

Re: drinks, we need red wine (cheap is fine) for the sangria, and whatever other alcohol people want (I have crème de cacao, so bring some milk and vodka and I will make white russians!), as well as tea, soft drinks and juice for those who want that.

We need:

- confirmed meat! Turkey, chicken, whatever, but it would be sad if the only meat to be had was what I'm putting in the stuffing.
- fruit for the sangria (I already have kabosu, but canned pineapples and mikan would be good)
- orange juice and tonic or some sort of fizzy stuff for the sangria
- bread and butter
- cheese? :D
- ice (I only have 2 small ice cube trays T___T)
- paper plates (I have one pack, but we'll need 2 more, probably)
- could a couple of people bring a large serving dish/bowl or two, or even cooking pots? I don't have very many and if Easter is anything to go by, we'll be short on those!
ETA - for the salad: dark-leaf lettuce, red onion, blue cheese crumbles, dried cherries, and walnuts (only half a cup each of the last three), but it works with any salad, really. If someone wants to pitch in those ingredients, that would be awesome, or else just a regular undressed salad

N.B. There is a supermarket right behind my apartment building, so you can get pretty much anything there, if you don't feel like hauling it all the way from your place.

Also:

What do you guys think of having some sort of theme? Apart from stuffing our faces, of course.

ETA: Tiffany has declared the theme to be BREASTS! XD

Discuss.

i can bring some red wine
and another type of dessert food ^_^

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds good! We'll have 2 pies, if all goes according to plan, but another dessert can't hurt, right? ^_^

[identity profile] lizstarsky.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Let me know re: the meat situation, preferably on Saturday sometime. If they're needed, I can buy some BREASTS (has to be capitalized) and bake them in our toaster oven one by one, storing them neatly in tupperware until the shindig on Sunday. :P And even if I do this, I could still make mashed potatoes at your place afterwards, provided I was able to stop at the grocery store beforehand.

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay! Stay tuned to this post to find out whether emergency BREASTS are needed, I guess. XD;

[identity profile] lizstarsky.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Check!

Also, I have word from Hannah - she's not sure yet whether she'll get her stuff done in time to join us, but if she does, she's going to try to come on Sunday. If she does, she says she will bring some additional alcohol. And possibly, in the spirit of Halloween, come dressed as a giant breast. Because that's the theme of the party, after all. :P

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw...I was hoping the theme could be health and happiness and thankfulness for our family and friends. \\(T-T)//

[identity profile] lizstarsky.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't it be all of the above? Health and happiness and thankfulness and breasts?

Wow, I'm actually tired of talking about breasts now. :P New topic plz.

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
How about boobies? It's sort of different and not as PC.

[identity profile] lizstarsky.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I will consider it.

For now, however, I'm going to bed. :P

Night, Mr. Frodo.

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Night, Kime!

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
And also a slang term for a stupid person. :D

[identity profile] starrbeam.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
also I should ask what time is this from ^^:; i hope afternoon or early evening ^^''

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
From 4 o'clock. You remember how to get here?

[identity profile] starrbeam.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup I think so. I'll have to leave at around 6 though dance rehearsal at night :/
but i'll stay for a few hours ^_^

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully we'll have the food ready by then! XD

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the ingredients for a good salad dressing, but no actual salad components as yet! The salad that my family usually make with the dressing has dark-leaf lettuce, red onion, blue cheese crumbles, dried cherries, and walnuts (only half a cup each of the last three), but it works with any salad, really. If someone wants to pitch in those ingredients, that would be awesome, or else just a regular undressed salad enough for ten people, I guess. XD

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, I guess we can always buy bagged salad mixes at the supermarket, if need be. Blue cheese can be found in stores around Kichijouji Station, I'm sure, as well as walnuts, but I don't know about the dried cherries...

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
If no one wants to bring the froofroo ingredients, I'm just gonna get some normal salad fixings, which will be easy to get at your local supermarket. ^_~ The salad will still be good if unfroofroo. I've spent so long trying to hunt down cranberries that I don't want to do the whole thing over again. I think the salad will be satisfactory regardless. XD

[identity profile] nekonezumi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Repetitive post is repetitive and tired and tired and did I say tired? And repetitive. *nod*

I am extremely sad that I cannot be in Tokyo to get in on the Thanksgiving (and eating) fun.

But yay for Canadian holidays that match up with Japanese ones~

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, Japan is so considerate, giving us a day off to digest! XD

[identity profile] fic-faery.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly!

I am taking the long weekend to go to Kyoto for a couple of days. Temples! \o/

Monday will be used for sleeping as I have no huuuge and awesome sounding feast to gorge myself on.

[identity profile] genkischuldich.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it okay if James comes too?

I can bring bread and butter, but even between both of us, we probably can't manage breasts!

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, and if he's done reading Vellum and Ink, I'd like to have them back, please! ^_^

Yeah, I'm leaving the breasts up to other people. XD

[identity profile] genkischuldich.livejournal.com 2009-10-10 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if he can come now. Either way, I think he plans to send me there with the books.

I'll need directions, btw.

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-10 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok! ^_^

Coming from where and by what means?

[identity profile] genkischuldich.livejournal.com 2009-10-10 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
From Musashi Koganei. I'll go to Kichijouji and walk if I can? Or take the bus.

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-11 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
I texted directions to your keitai, let me know if you want them by some other means! ^_^

[identity profile] llamachan.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't bring serving stuff just because of where I am and getting there, but I offer my money and yummies from Kyoto. :3

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds good!

[identity profile] kurayamihimitsu.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...With all the people who already know what they're bringing and such, how about my friend and I just pitch in and get things when needed at the grocery store? And if nothing's needed, just pitch in money wise or something? o.o holy hell that's a lot of people....

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That would probably be very helpful, thanks!

I know, where will I put them all??

[identity profile] llamachan.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Make the cranky ones blood for the volcano god food for Miss Tabitha! >^..^

[identity profile] hinoai.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'll go out tomorrow (Sat) and see if I can find turkey from Nishi-Azabu or something.. ^^ I could also try costco, but it's a long ways away, so not sure if I can make it out there..

Either way, I'll txt you tmw and let you know what I've found!

[identity profile] blodeuedd.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Okay! ^_^
