Herein lies the tragic, tragic tale of The Girl Who Felt Horrible at Tenimyu:

If I infected anybody I spent time with over the weekend, I'm terribly sorry. Those who saw me last night, I'm sorry I couldn't join you in your bouncing and "This myu was so much fun!" conversation, but I was feeling about 5 fathoms below the weather, and am only glad that I made it to my own station before things got out of hand.

A real lady doesn't throw up at tenimyu, nor does she do it on the way to the station, on the train, or when disembarking at her home station. She waits until she's out of the station proper before bending over, carefully calculating headwinds so that only the most minute of drops splash on the tip of her right boot, then wipes her mouth and calmly walks off to get a cab home. Daddy would be proud.

I imagine that puking in public is some sort of rite of passage in Japan? If so, I've passed and I hope it never, ever happens again.

When I got home I fed Tabitha, brushed my teeth, set my alarm, stripped my clothes off, then piled two sleeping bags and the kotasu blanket over my regular blankets before crawling underneath and spending the next while shivering and feeling awful, trying to distract myself and bring on sleep by pondering such questions as "Where can I get get my hot little hands on some Ju Wan/Da Shi fic, damnit?!" I finally fell asleep, but woke up several times during the night, either sweating or shivering. I managed to sleep through my alarm and woke up at exactly 8:45 (the time I'm supposed to be clocking in), sweating buckets, so called my boss and said there was no way I was making it in this morning. As you can tell by the time stamp, I elected to stay home this afternoon as well, after having slept like a log until just after 1. At least my stomach has calmed down, and my skin is no longer aching in a way that makes any type of clothing painful. Now I just have a killer headache. >_<

But enough about that, let's talk about fun things!

Yesterday, I bought a turkey! And Emily and I got our hair cut! I hope she posts a picture of her new do, because she looks adorable. Mine is shorter (not as short as the last cut, though) and my first colour experiment was a success! Not quite as dramatic as I was originally thinking, since it would have taken too long to do the full dye -- as it was, I slipped into the theatre after the show had started -- but lots of pale gold highlights on top. I like. The colourist seemed loath to do anything to my hair, though; she said it was "mottainai" since she liked my natural colour so much. This isn't the first time a Japanese hairstylist has said so, and now I'm wondering whether a) people here are actually trying for a used-to-be-blonde-but-isn't-anymore colour, and b) why anyone would aim for that colour to begin with. It's not a bad colour, it just... isn't very interesting.

Since I went short last year, I've been amusing myself in the mornings by comparing my bedhead to various tenipuri characters' coiffures. I've gone through the Eiji, the Oshitari Kenya, the Tezuka, and managed a passable Yagyuu; I fully expect to wake up with a Hiyoshi someday soon. XD

Speaking of things tennis-related, I saw the latest chapter of tenimyu twice this weekend.

Jill dubbed this Banzaimyu, and I agree. I'd also call it Awesomemyu, because it was just that good: great songs, great singing, great dance numbers, great energy. It never lagged, it was funny, it was touching, it made me like Ryouma. Like, seriously, wtf?! I think I really like 5th cast Ryouma, though the script did have something to do with it. Actually, I have a lot to say on the subject of Ryouma/Long Ma/why the Chinese version did it better. I'll have to write a post about it.

Seeing the show two days in a row, though I was feeling awful for the second one, was interesting. I got to compare some actors better, since Nanjirou, Niou, Shiraishi and Kintarou were played by different actors on both nights. While the new Nanjirou was good, Ueshima wins just for "Oi, Neesan! Eh, neesan ja nai yo!" XDDD And while the new Niou was fine, Masa is still tops in my book. Actually, I'm sort of glad he wasn't there the second night, because I got to appreciate the group dances more: when he's on stage, my eyes just go back to him all the time because his dancing is so sharp and smooth.

Shiraishi A is still hotter than B.

After being disappointed by last summer's myu, this one blew me away. The songs, as I said, were amazing, and really, really powerful. The opening number had energy in spades, and Rikkai is finally back and in top form, with some great group songs and hymn-like odes to Yukimura. Also, new!Yukimura has a great voice, and I thought he did a wonderful job at convincing us that yes, this guy everyone's been in awe of but we've never actually seen play really IS that good.

I was happy to finally see the original Akutsu on Saturday, because I only ever saw the new one during Shitenmyu. Just as I was pondering the fact that, "Dear lord, his legs just never end! And his ass isn't bad, either," Laura's nose started bleeding. Ii timing is ii! XD

The little epilogue was cute, with Momo and Kaidou being in each others' faces, as usual.

Momo: You have one hair on your chin.

*dies*

And Katsuo's hair! XDDD

And then we got a nice little surprise of "On My Way" before the usual "F.G.K.S." finale. Sadly, I forgot to bring the kirakira mitts yesterday. :(

All right, enough of that, I need to eat something. Also, I want to clean up my apartment some. At least that way, my day won't have been completely mottainai.

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're sick! Stay warm and drink lots of hot drinks. Can someone get you some medicine? Do you need anything sent out?

Tell Tabitha to take good care of you *frets*

I wanna see photos of your hair! The colouring sounds really cute. Also, I look forward to seeing you with Hiyoshi hair one morning XDD

I'm much better now, but thanks for the offer. Tabitha was about as useful as can be expected; she warmed me up a bit, at least!

I'll try... But if you want to see me like that in the morning, you have to be here in the morning, hmm? ^_~

I hope you feel better soon!

And that you enjoy your turkey!
Thanks for a little blurb on Tenimyu. I didn't have the time/money to go now, so hopefully I can go see one of the return shows! ^^

Have a great holiday!

I do now, thank you!

If you're in Tokyo, you and your sister are welcome to come over for Christmas dinner, you know. ^_^

You really should see the show, it's totally worth buying resale tickets for. I had no luck with the lottery, but I do plan on seeing it in Sendai.

Woo! Sendai. I should go see it in Sendai. Maybe tickets will be cheaper for there than Tokyo. I'm kinda halfway between the two places so I can go to either show.

I will ask my sister about Christmas dindin and shall let you know! Thanks for the invite.

Glad you're feeling better!

Dude, you are blind if you think Halu is cuter than Big Nose Shiraishi. XD

(Sarah says there is this thing called "personal preference." And I will admit that Halu is adorable too.

BUT THE NOSE)

Hope you are feeling a thousand times better.
If so...

*dons Inui glasses*
BANZAI!!!

Ehhh??? When did you start feeling sick? Was it the ramen?? O_O Or all that talk of hard cheese?

Glad you seem to be feeling better now, anyway. I was worried that you'd miss part of Tenimyu, and it looks like you did, so it's lucky you're seeing it thrice. Keep feeling better. ♥

It wasn't the ramen, although - TMI ahead! - the might-be-bamboo-shoots came back up to say hi. XP

I only missed the very first bit; he usher showed me in during the opening number. I would have made it if I hadn't made a pit stop at the washroom beforehand. ^_^

Perhaps they were affronted because we didn't know what they were and decided to give you a second chance to ID them. *nod*

Hope you're feeling better. Sounds like you got hit with the dreaded flu. *huggles* It's cold in NY.

Thankfully it seems to have been the 24-hour version. *is keeping fingers crossed that it's truly over*

But at least there's snow, right? ^_^

Your friend got in touch with me, so everything should be under control. (^_^)v

I do now, thank you. ^_^

And he couldn't, I've hidden his family rock so he'd have nothing to weigh himself down with. XD
