I was all geared up to post pictures of my trip to Sendai, or at least of last week's snow, but then I logged into Photobucket and realised I've got a million other pictures to post first. So. Yeah. -__-;
Recently, especially over the past year, I've lived so many amazing moments that it seems whiny to say that I feel somehow dissatisfied. Actually, dissatisfied isn't quite the right word. It's more that I'm starting to really feel that I'm letting myself down by not trying to improve at the things I really love. I can pick up new things easily enough, and do a passable job at them, but I've never really worked as hard as I feel I could, as hard as I see others working, to really achieve something.
You know what I need? More time. I've got all these things I want to do, but I don't know how to organise things so that they all fit nicely into my schedule. A step in the right direction, of course, would be to get myself in gear and stop wasting time lying around in the evenings, but where to get the motivation? I think I mentioned a while back wanting to create some sort of "Goal of the Month" club, and I'm seriously mulling it over.
Who wants to join me? What is(are) your goal(s)? Do you want me to make up stamp cards so you can get a stamp for each small accomplishment and I can give you a big shiny sticker when you reach your goal? :D
(I'm serious, here, folks...)
Ballet: I want to get back into decent shape, and work on my flexibility, which I've never really done before. I'm not naturally flexible, and there's so much stuff I can't do properly because of that. Also, being surrounded by Japanese women who naturally have dancer-like figures that I could never hope for, no matter what sort of training/dieting regimen I put myself through, can't help but be a little disheartening. Sometimes I see myself in the mirror and think, "My line looks perfect, I actually look elegant and graceful! ;____;" but more often than not, it's "Ugh, why do my elbows seem so knobby?!" or "Gah, my bum just looks way too big from this angle!"
Sewing: I really want to take the time to make myself some cool, well-crafter clothes. I came across a blog a little while ago that was really inspiring, and I'm trying to work out how to do something similar, but the first step is, of course, to actually sew stuff.
Languagues: I want to fully deserve a pass for the JLPT2, and to do that, I need to work on my speaking like whoa. Also, I should be reading much more. For a while, I had a good thing going with going to bed early-ish and reading some manga and/or doujinshi before falling asleep, so that would be worth starting again. 頑張りま~~~す!As for Mandarin, I have a specific goal, which is to redo my university textbooks before going to China this summer. So that means reacquiring an intermediate level (including reading!) before August. 加油!
Photography: While in Sendai, I took roughly four thousand pictures, and came to the conclusion that while I can take a decent shot of nature (trees, rocks, scenery) and sometimes manage surprisingly good shots of people, I suck at properly framing a) statues; b) cityscapes; c) architecture. Things to work on.
Friends: Something I really need to work on is answering emails in a timely manner, and also being a better friend in general. Vague goal is vague.
General lifestyle: Keeping my apartment cleaner, and getting to bed at a reasonable hour. I figure that if I go to bed earlier, I can get up a bit earlier, and do chores in the morning. That way, I won't feel guilty about not doing them in the evening, when I'm tired. Let's see if I can start this one tonight...
