So I could write up a long, detailed account of Easter in Mitaka, complete with insightful commentary and recipes and... oh, who am I kidding, we all just want the pictures posted as soon as possible, right? So here is part I of III, with a sprinkling of words for good measure.

For the first time ever, I had absolutely nothing to do with dessert! No baking was attempted by yours truly. My challenge was this little beauty, which at that moment was bathing in a marinade of sage, oregano, cumin powder, rosemary, olive oil and lemon juice:

Six pounds of deboned Australian lamb, which we christened YES!!, because that was everyone's reaction to it. And I was banned from saying "hunk of meat" because Sarah has a dirty mind. I'd never cooked a roast before (I'd seen G do it many times, though), and not only did I have to learn how to cook it, I also had to tie it up and carve it! I passed with flying colours on the cooking part, but totally failed at meat bondage and at carving. Oh well, it was still delicious!

Sarah was the first to arrive, and she taught me that cookies can be baked in a rice cooker!

Photobucket

My rice cooker was taken by surprise.

Photobucket

People trickled in, and snacks were set out.

Photobucket

I'd never seen a Peep before! Shocking colour, if you ask me.

Photobucket

I sent Alexis to the store to buy some wine for the sangria, telling him that cheap stuff was fine. So he brought back a box of wine!

Photobucket

Emily samples my sangria. Hannah clearly has doubts about the wisdom of allowing this to happen.

Photobucket

Nana's turn to try the sangria, while Eda does something dirty to a poor, innocent Peep.

ETA: Holy hell, it was only 5 o'clock and the whiskey was already half gone?! No wonder people were so happy! XDDD

Photobucket

Kimberly chops up the ham she brought and spears it on toothpicks, instantly upping the sophistication factor of the party by at least 20%.

Photobucket

Suddenly, there is hot chocolate action going on in my bedroom!

Photobucket

Hannah is all, "I see what you did there." William subtly gives the photographer (Emily, I believe) the finger, Kira disapproves, and Eda sleeps. And look, it's the back of my head!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Woohoo, I've had three cups of sangria and we haven't even started eating yet! :D :D :D

Photobucket

Sarah is cute and happy!

Photobucket

Lots of pretty!

Photobucket

Not sure who Sarah is ordering around, but he/she had better bring it right here, bitch!

Photobucket

Hobbit x Kender = OTP!

Photobucket

Hobbit x Kender x pretty girl with ginger = OT3! <3

Photobucket

... I don't even know. XD

Photobucket

Jamie looking adorable!

Photobucket

Ooh, dried bananas!

Photobucket

And that was Part I! Stay tuned for Part II and Part III, featuring more pretty girls, cheese, YES!!, boobs, and KKKitteh!

Do you think anything could be amazing enough to merit the name Awesome Win? :D If there is, we wouldn't need any other excuse for a gathering, it could just be Awesome Win Day. XD

Hmmm... I don't know. . But Awesome and Win or Awesome Win would be really nice. :DDDD

And also... you know (thinking ahead in time), if you do a Christmas Dinner next year, if you made it the day after Christmas (on Sunday), I could go AND it would be my birthday. :DDD XD

But Yes was delicious. Maybe another lamb or something else.

I'm planning on being back in the motherland for Christmas this year, though. But if I can swing it, I'll be around for New Year's Eve, so maybe we can organise something around that time. ^_^

Oooh, how about duck! Or goose! :D~~~~

I've never had either, so it would be something new to me. :D

Duck is like the fowl equivalent of lamb (rich and delicious), but greasier. Goose is similar, I believe -- I know I ate it a few times as a small child, but I don't remember. ;___;

XD I really like that picture of Tiff, Jamie, Kimberly, and Nana! Except I keep thinking Tiff's shirt says "Popeye." Which would make about as much sense as what it actually says.

What other holidays are coming up??? Maybe we could just do a "Because We Want To" holiday.... >___> They're so much funnnn. I got cool friends, I got good bread, I got roast lamb, who could ask for anything more? :D

In Canada, the Victoria Day (around the 24th of May) weekend is considered the official start of cottage/the summer season, so there's that... ^_^ Of course, that's the weekend of tenimyu, so some of us will be busy with that!

I'll be back in Chicago from May 19th to June 10th, so if you have a party during that time, I will of course demand another one sometime after. XD

Re: Eda and Alexis picture, perhaps they were attempting to do a fugu impression for Emily's benefit? :D

BECAUSE SHE NEEDS MORE FUGU IN HER LIFE?!

Glad you enjoyed them! I can't take much of the credit, though, since I'm not sure exactly who took a lot of these. ^_^
