First up, some announcements:

Fireworks! Here is what's going on in Tokyo this summer. I can't do anything between the 31st of July and the 15th of August, but any takers for some of the other ones, maybe on the 29th? *hopeful*

Birthday! My birthday is the 17th of August, but I'll be working that day, and will have a ballet class afterward, so there will be no partying that day. However, I would like to get to the Tamagawa Fireworks on the 21st (Saturday). Those are my favourite fireworks (after the Edogawa ones, which are happening while I'm away), so I hope they're just as good this year!

Birthday, Take Two! Apart from the fireworks, I'd like to have my birthday celebration on the 29th of August (Sunday). So far, my idea is to have Greek food (or possibly Turkish or Moroccan, depending on what restaurants are to be found), and also purikura and maybe something else. Reserve that date for me, please! ^_^

Desserts! To reward ourselves for sticker sheets completed, Eda and I will be hitting up that fabulous dessert place in Ginza on the 24th of this month, probably around 6:30. Who wants to join us? :D

Summer colds are the worst. I mean, I don't think anyone ever enjoys having a cold, but having one at the height of summer seems doubly unfair. This one's really cemented my dislike for A/C, though it's the only way to make my school at all bearable.

Is it just me, or is the summer not as hot this year? It must be just me, because the weather forecast is telling me it is, but for some reason I'm not feeling it as much. Either my body is completely acclimatised, or the weight loss since last year has made me less uncomfortable in the heat?

Though I do sweat just as much as I always have. XD

* * *

Speaking of sweat, I've always been rather self-conscious about how I smell, since I do sweat a lot. At least I'm not alone; both my brothers agree with me that the NHL-endorsed Speed Stick DOES NOT offer 24-hour protection. Which is why I prefer Right Guard. For men, because I don't want to smell like a girl. Other girls smelling like girls is (more than) fine, but girly scents are just not me.

I keep having moments of "Oh god, is that me?! DX" in ballet class. I really shouldn't worry, though, because it always turns out to not be me. XD

The other day, I was wearing a t-shirt that has a fruit tart/dessert thing on it. The first time I wore it, my kids kept telling me I was a cake, or a strawberry, because they're kids. I wore it again the other day, and the morning had been so far free of comment on my choice of attire until Hina piped up.

"Ms. Adele, you're a fruit cake!"

XDDD

A couple of days ago, I wore the big giant dress to work. Of course, this ellicited comments about its sheer giantness, since the kids know it makes me laugh.

At snack time, I was eating a banana, as usual. And as usual, one of the kids -- probably Hina, since she usually leads the pack for these things -- said, "You're Ms. Adele Banana Man!" because whatever I'm eating, I'm "Ms. Adele [insert food name] Man". In vain, I've tried to explain that they should either call me "Ms. Adele ____ Woman" or "Mr. Adele _____ Man", but it's always "Ms. Adele _____ Man".

"But I'm wearing a dress," I protested. "An ankle-length dress! A pale blue, flowered dress! It has lace! It has SEQUINS!"

Hina looked at me thoughtfully before declaring, "Then you're a Dress Man!"

I can't win. XDDD

I recently spotted some awesome t-shirts while out and about in Tokyo, t-shirts that made me go, "Ooh, DO WANT!"

Walking home from work yesterday, it was a woman's black t-shirt with, "No I will not teach you to dance" in large, sparkly font.

A couple of weeks ago, it was a guy whose t-shirt said, "Please Define Fun" on the front.

And when I was at Denny's with Jill and Marianne the other weekend, a young mother had a t-shirt with a rainbow on it, beside which were the words, "Smile if you're gay". <3

* * *

In two weeks, I'll be at Narita Airport, sitting on a plane bound for Beijing! Eeeeeeeh! *excited flailing* Volume II of The Adventures of Hobbit and Kender will be amazing, I just know it.

Hmm, we need an official name for this trip. I still think Journey to the West is a good one, but that makes me think I should actually read Journey to the West, if only to be able to parody it at opportune moments. ^_^v

And then, in September, I'm heading down to Kagoshima with Sarah and Eda. Bali turned out to be impossible money-wise, so this was the next best thing. XD What are we going to do in Kagoshima? I have no idea! But it'll be awesome! :D

Christmas will be spent back in Canadaland, and there will also possibly be a wedding? Definitely baby-viewing.

Wow, getting up early on weekends is great, it's only a bit after 10 and I feel I've done so much! Well, I haven't actually done much, it's just that I've gotten my daily tooling around the internet mostly done. Still, I've done laundry, am uploading photos for my next Travelpod post*, and last night I got fabric out for a (few) new project(s). Because I really need to start new things, when I'm in the middle of a bunch of others.

All right, time to get some sewing done, then I need to go over my budget (the next few months are going to be tight -__-;;;), then I'm going to see U-KISS in Nakano! Because Eda is awesome and got us tickets. <3

* Picture #666 from The Great Train Adventure is of... the giant reclining Buddha in Shimabara. I giggled.

ETA: Here's what Tabitha thinks of the heat.

D'awww, hot Tabitha.

I love stories of your kids. They all sound completely crackers XD

And I'm another person who'd rather use men's deodorants than womens - it smells better and tends to work better too. The only thing is, when it's really hot and you can smell your deodorant you tend to start associating that smell with sweat, even though you don't smell sweaty. S'why I change up my deodorant every so often XD;

Also, those t-shirts sound fab, I'm sad there are no accompanying photos XD

That was taken when I woke up the other morning. I'm still surprised I managed to blindly reach out, get my camera out of its case, and take the picture without waking her!

They are, they are. But they're just so adorable, especially when they're saying or doing silly things to make me laugh. <3

There's that, and also I'm offended that women's deodorant is more expensive than men's, yet comes in smaller quantities! :P I've been using mostly the same deodorant for... years and years and years. If it's not broke, don't fix it, right? Except Emily reported the disturbing news that she couldn't find the exact same kind when she was back in the U.S. I'll have to ask my mother whether they still have it in Canada!

I'm sad about that too, which is why I wrote about them. Maybe I'll make myself some imitations! :D

Aw, thanks, but it's okay, they still sell it. Just not the exact variation I like. I've got a couple of sticks stockpiled for future use. ^_^v

The 29th has been reservatated!! :D

I sent you the link for the Greek place (that's the only one I could find that's open on Sundays), and I can also vouch for Bosphoros Hasan in Shinjuku for Turkish. I don't think I've seen too many Moroccan places around!

Not "Into the West" for the China trip??

Not reservationated?

Did we decide on that? The heat's been melting my brain... XD;

Not sure if I'll be able to do your b-day things... I will be IN Tokyo, but I' need to check my schedules of those days. XD You should have let me know sooner and I could have planned things better. XD

Just let me know, and I'll see what can be arranged. Like I said, I have no firm plans yet, so time/place have yet to be decided, so maybe you can pop by for a bit?

:3 I already told you I'm up for the dessert place. <3

And I'm in the same boat as Sarah. XD Depending on the time and such for those days, I can or cannot make it (like I mentioned earlier XD <3) but I will do my best! :3 <333333

For the 29th, Sarah has plays afternoon and evening... (1 and 6) so she probably can't go. Jill is going with her to the 1:00 show.

I have a play that evening but I am thinking I will ditch it... lolz. I still actually haven't paid for the tickets 8D;; (though I must)

I sweat a lot too. I am really insecure about it because most women do not sweat as much as I do. I drip. Someone once asked me why my face was weeping. :S And re: deodorant: Men's is awesome. I use to wear it all the time but now I alternate.

I love the "Smile if you are gay" shirt. I would wear one.
