Apr. 22nd, 2003 07:44 amFunny how the American and British troops in Iraq "couldn't protect" the Bagdad Museum, once home of thousands of priceless artifacts, from looting and pillaging hordes, but the Ministry of Oil is intact, encircled as it is by armed guards.

Date: 2003-04-22 08:59 am (UTC)Water and Electricity are still not available (damaged or destroyed by bombing) in most areas of the country, meaning that people are suffering in their newfound "liberty". But, just like the Ministry of Oil, the oil infrastructure remains mostly intact.
Well, I guess the Americans need to find some way of paying for the $80 billion or so they are spending to occupy Iraq ...
As was repeated many times in the lead up to this invasion, "We are willing to make sacrifices"... (especially if its Iraqis that make them!)
Destroyed artworks and lack of water and electricity are , of course, minor issues when is now proudly receiving and paying for American Democracy (TM).
