Because I waited until I was able to fully support myself and had money in the bank before moving out, I find myself spending lots of money on furniture and things I need because I'm buying the stuff I like, not just getting what's cheap. I've so far spent more than I had originally planned, but the only major thing left is a bed; the rest will be small things, like tablecloths, dishrags, a doormat, etc.

In the last few days I've acquired (thanks, Ikea and Canadian Tire!):

- a computer desk
- an iron
- a stool
- a tray table
- a wardrobe
- a DVD player
- a laundry hamper
- candles (essential!)
- a desk lamp and bulbs
- a turquoise bathroom set
- a mirror
- towels
- picture frames
- two little filing cabinet units
- a blind
- a waste-paper basket
- a kitchen table and chairs
- a set of pots, pans and other kitchen implements
- a set of cutlery (with bubbly handles!)
- dishes
- a coffee table
- three cushions

I think I've discovered my "thing" in home decorating: cushions! They're so happy and fun and comfy! Since I won't have a sofa, I'll be able to get extra cushions! And in lots of different colours, too; my bedroom will be very blue, so I got pink stuff to counter that for the living room (should I paint it? Methinks I will.)

Tomorrow, I have the feeling I'll be plunking down lots of money for a new computer with an LCD screen.

I know...and IKEA has all those funky bright colours and thinks that you can afford!
